Wooster, Ohio - DePauw scored 23 points in each of the first two quarters and moved to 7-0 with a 53-7 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Wooster. The 22nd-ranked Tigers improved to 5-0 in the NCAC with the win. The Fighting Scots dropped to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
DePauw scored just 1:55 into the game as a bad snap on a Wooster punt resulted in a safety. After the ensuing free kick, DePauw started on the Wooster 48 and needed just five plays with
Nathan McCahill tossing a 9-yard scoring pass to
Gabe Quigley.
After the DePauw defense recorded a three-and-out, the offense embarked on a 52-yard drive that culminated in
Caden Whitehead's 7-yard run to make it 16-0 with 5:01 left in the first.Â
A Wooster fumble on its next possession was recovered at the Wooster 30 by DePauw's
David Guhl. Four plays later McCahill teamed with
Robby Ballentine for a 21-yard score to push the lead to 23-0.
Guhl forced Wooster's Jarvis Mims to fumble in the second period and
Cortez Stoudemire recovered. McCahill connected with Ballentine for a 42-yard gain on the first play before Whitehead scored on a 3-yard run to make it 30-0 with 7:48 left in the half.
Wooster was again forced to punt on its next possession and another safety made it 32-0. The Tigers returned the free kick to their own 46 and needed six plays before McCahill and
Carson Johnson teamed for a 19-yard score.
The Fighting Scots converted a fourth down on their next series, but on the next play, DePauw's
Tommy Ryan picked off Chanden Lee's pass at the Wooster 45 and returned it for the final score of the half to extend the lead to 46-0 with 1:26 left.
Whitehead's 2-yard run on DePauw's first possession of the second half pushed the lead to 53-0.Â
Wooster's lone score came on Shakir Perkins' 1-yard run which was set up by a DePauw fumbled punt snap.
 Whitehead led DePauw with 82 rushing yards on 17 carries with McCahill completing 12-of-18 passes for 198 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Ballentine caught four passes for 97 yards and
Jaylon Smith hauled in four for 36 yards.
Perkins rushed for 44 yards on 15 tries with Lee completing 9-of-21 for just 55 yards. Brazos Gadler caught four for 31 yards.Â
Nate Glazebrook led DePauw with five tackles, while four different Tigers had one sack each.
Brock Sivon paced Wooster with 16 tackles.
DePauw outgained Wooster, 380-45 including 148 to minus 24 on the ground.Â
The Tigers travel to Wittenberg on Saturday, Oct. 21, for a 2 p.m. NCAC game with outright possession of first place in the conference on the line.
