Terre Haute, Ind.- The DePauw women's indoor track and field team finished first out of five teams after totaling 158 points at the 2023 Friday Night Spikes Meet hosted by Rose-Hulman.
The Tigers completed the evening with 14 individual top-three finishes and recorded a first and third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.
Alexis Cagan,
Emily Loera,
Sadie Gibson, and
Annalise Grammel finished first in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:15.3.
Emma Jacobs,
Ava Knight,
Morgan Tharp, and
Allison Koehler completed the relay in 4:25.42 for third.
Grammel paced the team with 18 points, finishing second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.60 and first in the 400-meter dash (1:00.81). Close behind her in the 400-meter dash, Gibson finished third with a time of 1:04.23. Koehler also finished third after running an 11.49 in the 60-meter hurdles.
First-year Knight finished first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:26.80, followed by Jacobs, who ran the 800 in 2:28.49 for third place. DePauw would go one-two in the mile run after
Sophie Porter (5:22.20) finished just ahead of teammate
Meredith Sierpina (5:24.74).
The Tigers continued to find success in the field events, recording six top-three finishes across five different events.
Abby Hartman earned first in high jump with a height of 1.53 meters, while
Emma Stemen and first-year
Lily Vaught finished first and second, respectively, in pole vault, with Stemen finishing with a height of 3.05 meters and Vaught with a height of 2.45 meters.
Jaida Smith tallied two more top-three finishes for DePauw; she jumped 5.15 meters in the long jump for second and took third in triple jump with a final jump of 10.43 meters. Rounding out the Tigers' top finishers was
Bree Mahoney-Sutherland, who finished second in shot put with a throw of 12.34 meters.
DePauw will host the Tim Hreha Memorial Indoor Invitational on Feb. 3, with a meet start time of 5 p.m. EST.
