Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw never trailed and extended its win streak to three with a 68-47 North Coast Athletic Conference win over visiting Oberlin. The Tigers improved to 10-7 overall and 5-1 in the NCAC, while the Yeowomen dropped to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
After grabbing a 12-8 lead after the first quarter, DePauw closed the first half on a 15-4 run to take a 32-17 lead into the intermission. Oberlin was within 12 on two occasions in the third, but the Tigers extended the margin to 18 at 51-33 as the teams headed to the fourth. The Yeowomen converted a three-point play on their first possession of the fourth, but DePauw countered with 11 straight to seal the victory.
Ava Hassel led DePauw with 14 points followed by
Moira McGinley with 11 and
Mya Shannon with 10. Alyson Jefferson paced Oberlin with 17 points and Camille Zinaich followed with 10.
DePauw held a 44-24 rebounding edge with
Riley Mont,
Ainsley Boras and
Lydia Stullken each hauling down six. Zinaich and Jefferson had three boards each for Oberlin.
The Tigers connected on 40.7 percent from the floor and knocked in 10 3-pointers with Hassel hitting four and McGinley three. Oberlin shot 36.7 percent from the field and was 2-of-13 from beyond the arc.
DePauw travels to Ohio Wesleyan for a 1 p.m. NCAC game on Saturday, Jan. 21.
