Danville, Ky.- The DePauw men's soccer team registered its third tie of the season after a 1-1 draw against the Centre College Colonels on the road.
Â
The Tigers struck first with less than a minute left in the first half following
Trotter Benson's attempt at goal, which was saved and deflected, then collected and chipped in by
Ethan Webster to put DePauw up 1-0 heading into halftime.
Â
In the second half, Centre turned up the pressure getting off 11 shots compared to DePauw's three. With the action between the teams getting more physical as the time expired, the Colonels eventually slipped past the defensive line and evened the match at one with a goal by Luke Morgan in the 68th minute.
Â
For the remainder of the match, the two teams battled for a look at goal, and Centre almost came out on top with a last-second shot, but
Alexander Lundin's stretched and punched the ball just outside of the goal post to keep the game tied at one.
Â
Lundin and the Colonels' Aidan Hartman finished the night with three saves apiece.
Â
The Tigers move to 3-2-3 for the season and return to Greencastle, Ind. on Tuesday, September 20, to play host to Trine, with kickoff set for 7 pm EDT.
