Box Score 2 Hiram, Ohio - Sixth-ranked DePauw clinched its sixth North Coast Athletic Conference title after splitting its final NCAC doubleheader of the season at Hiram. The Tigers won the first game, 3-0, and dropped the nightcap, 9-3.
DePauw is now 31-7 overall and finished NCAC play at 15-1, while the Terriers moved to 21-13 overall and 13-3 in conference play. The loss snapped DePauw's 18-game win streak this year and ended its record string of 45 consecutive NCAC regular-season wins which dated back to April 26, 2018.
Cami Henry tossed a two-hit shutout in the opener and struck out 11 in improving to 23-5.
The Tigers broke a scoreless tie in the fifth as Kelsey Bernhard led off by being hit by a pitch and moved to second on a wild pitch. Paige Price tripled to right center, scoring Bernhard.
DePauw added two more in the sixth as Emily Timberman singled and pinch-runner Abby Pyburn moved to second on Drew Bratcher's single. Grace Smith's sacrifice bunt advanced the runners a base before Jade Mejia Wick delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Pyburn. Bernhard then singled home Bratcher.
Seven different Tigers had one hit each as did two Terriers. Darian Kanno dropped to 9-5.
Hiram rebounded in the nightcap with three in the first and two in the second.
Alyssa Anderson's bunt single in the third scored Mejia Wick and Smith's triple in the fourth plated Katie Mathies to cut the Hiram lead to 5-2.
The Terriers scored on more in the fifth and two in the sixth before Goose Moore singled home Lily Jennings in the seventh.
Five different DePauw players had one hit apiece with Melissa Galindo pacing Hiram with three of its 10 hits.
Kandra Butcher dropped to 2-1, while Jeskari Rodriguez improved to 8-6.
DePauw returns to action on Friday, May 6, when it faces Wooster in the second game of the NCAC Tournament at DePauw.
