DePauw dropped to 34-10 on the season and faces second-seed and 14th-ranked Piedmont in a 12:30 p.m. elimination game. Berry improved to 30-11 and takes on Hiram in a 10 a.m. winner's bracket matchup. Hiram topped Piedmont, 4-1, in the day's first game.
Berry's Katie White and Riley Jackson led off the game with walks before Anna Jackson grounded into a double play that retired White at third. An intentional walk to Morgran Frye followed before Shelby Daniel walked to load the bases. Blair Hall followed with a single up the middle that plated Riley Jackson and Frye.
Sydney Moroney walked to lead off the second and Aleeya Thornton had a 1-0 count before DePauw pitcher Cami Henry left the game with an injury and was replaced by Kersten Brayton. Thornton singled and White followed with a single that scored Moroney. Riley Jackson lifted a sacrifice fly to center that brought home Thornton and Anna Jackson followed with a single that plated White and pushed the Berry lead to 5-0.
DePauw got a run back in the second as Katie Mathies singled with one out and pinch-runner Kate Geary moved to second when Alyssa Anderson walked. Grace Smith walked to load the bases before Goose Moore walked scoring Geary.
Abbey Gamble singled with one out in the Berry third and Moroney walked before Thornton reached on a sacrifice bunt. White then ripped a bases-clearing double to make it 8-1. Riley Jackson followed with a single, but Jade Mejia Wick threw a strike to catcher Kelsey Bernhard to get White.
Emily Timberman singled with one out in the third and pinch-runner Katerina Kilgore moved to second on Drew Bratcher's base hit. After Geary walked, Anderson reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Kilgore to score.
Piedmont added three in the sixth as Frye and Daniel each singled and Blair followed with a three-run homer.
Five different Tigers collected one hit apiece. White had three of Berry's 14 hits, while Frye, Hall and Gamble each had three. Hall drove in five and White plated four.
Henry dropped to 26-7 on the season, while Hannah Gore improved to 14-1 after pitching 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
