St. Louis, Mo.- The DePauw men's track and field team competed in the WashU Distance Carnival and secured a fifth-place finish at the WashU Invite this past weekend.
On Friday, Matt Rowley and Hudson Alden ran the top times for DePauw in the 5,000-meter run with times of 15:20.40 and 15:25.60, respectively. In the 10,000-meter run, the top-two Tigers were Jacob Kissling (31:12:46) and Zane Williams with a time of 32:17.54. Rounding out the distance events was Bailey Scott, who competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:05.94.
Saturday had a combination of scored events, where the Tigers tallied 53 points across the day. Daniel Jansen got DePauw on the board after recording a throw of 38.91m in the javelin throw for sixth place and would later take fifth in high jump (1.85m). In long jump, Carson Watson jumped 6.34m for eighth place.
Leading the Tigers in top-three finishes was Bennett DeCoursey, who took first in discus throw (50.53m) and second in shot put, with a throw of 13.77m.
Also recording two top-ten finishes was Michael Ocasek, who finished third in the 1,500-meter run (3:58.33) and seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.24. Darren McLaurin earned the final individual top-ten finish after finishing eighth in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 11.10 seconds.
In the 4x100 relay, DePauw's Ayo Laleye, McLaurin, BJ Lomax, and Christian Troupe came in fifth place with a time of 44.92. In the 4x400 relay, the team of Jansen, Callaway Bird, Henry Streib, and Ocasek finished in seventh place in 3:33.65.
The Tigers' next meet is the Huntsman Family Invitational at Wabash College on Saturday, April 9.
