Box Score 2 Granville, Ohio - Ninth-ranked DePauw extended its win streak to 11 and stayed on top of the North Coast Athletic Conference standings with a doubleheader sweep at Denison by scores of 8-3 and 4-2. The Tigers improved to 24-6 overall and 8-0 in the NCAC, while Denison dropped to 13-16 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
In game one, Cami Henry retired the first 13 batters she faced and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in improving to 17-5.
DePauw scored one in the third as Emma Konrad singled home Kelsey Bernhard and then added another in the fourth as Katerina Kilgore scored Grace Smith with a single.
The Tigers added five in the sixth as Bernhard drove in Olivia Jennings with a single and Jade Mejia Wick followed with a two-run double. Kate Geary and Alyssa Anderson followed with run-scoring singles to make it 7-0. Caleigh Cramer's seventh-inning single brought home Kilgore to extend the lead to 8-0.
Denison's Maggie Ballentine broke up Henry's no-hit bid as she led off the seventh with an infield single. The Big Red finished the frame with three runs and the Tigers took the win.
Bernhard, Anderson, Smith and Kilgore each had two of DePauw's 14 hits. Sydney Silverstein dropped to 6-7 with the loss.
The Big Red jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the nightcap as Ballentine hit a one-out, solo homer. DePauw took a 2-1 lead in the third on back-to-back RBI doubles by Paige Price and Smith. Denison knotted the score in the bottom of the third as Jessica Hopkins singled home Claire Powell.
The 2-2 tie remained until the DePauw sixth when Price, Bratcher and Kilgore singled to load the bases. Brooke Bruin's ground out plated Price and Bernhard's sacrifice fly scored Bratcher.
Smith and Bratcher each had two hits for the Tigers who totaled eight. Five different Big Red players collected one hit each.
Henry moved to 18-5 and Sophia Parpala dropped to 6-2.
DePauw travels to Wittenberg on Saturday, April 23, for a 1 p.m. NCAC doubleheader.
