Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's track and field team took third place in the Indiana DIII Meet with 111 points and placed in the top ten in 12 events.
Five different Tigers earned first-place finishes in field and distance events. Callaway Bird took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.86. Matt Rowley won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:03.81, while Michael Ocasek finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:31.01). On the field events end, Garrett Elkins won high jump with a jump of 1.94m, and Bennett DeCoursey threw a career-best 50.93m in discus throw for first place.
Other top-three finishers include Hudson Alden, who finished third with a time of 4:05.07 in the 1,500-meter run, and Jacob Kissling, who finished second in the 5,000-meter run after running it in 15:04.45. Thomas Brelage finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:07.07. DePauw's Daniel Jansen, Bird, Henry Streib, and Ocasek took third place in the 4x400 relay (3:32.44), and Carson Watson finished second in long jump after jumping 6.46m.
The Tigers travel to Rose-Hulman for the Twilight Meet on Friday, April 22, with a start time of 4 pm EDT.
