Box Score 2 Meadville, Pa. - Ninth-ranked DePauw clubbed six homers, while allowing just one run and five hits on the way to a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of Allegheny by scores of 7-0 and 12-1 in five innings. The Tigers improved to 22-6 overall and 6-0 in the NCAC, while the Gators dropped to 6-13-1 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
In the opener, DePauw struck with three runs in the second as Drew Bratcher and Grace Smith hit solo homers and Jade Mejia Wick scored from second when Caleigh Cramer reached on an error. Katie Mathies' sacrifice fly in the third plated Alyssa Anderson and made it 4-0.
Bratcher hit another solo homer in the sixth to make it 5-0. Smith doubled with one out and Paige Price singled before Mejia Wick singled and a pair of errors on the play allowed both runs to score.
Callie Rheinheimer, Bratcher and Smith each had two of DePauw's 10 hits, while two Gators had one hit apiece.
Kandra Butcher picked up her first collegiate win to move to 1-0 after allowing just two hits with six strikeouts in seven shutout innings. Samantha Dzierba dropped to 2-4.
DePauw took control of the second game quickly with a nine-run first inning that included Bratcher's grand slam and Smith's three-run homer. Price hit a two-run homer in the second to push the lead to 11-0.
Smith and Abby Pyburn each had two of DePauw's 11 hits with three Gators collecting one hit apiece.
Riley Magoon improved to 2-0 after allowing just one unearned run and three hits. Jordan Williams dropped to 2-3 with the loss.
DePauw travels to Denison tomorrow for a 2 p.m. NCAC doubleheader.
