Box Score 2 Pomona, Calif. - DePauw extended its win streak to eight and improved to 11-5 with a doubleheader sweep at Pomona-Pitzer. The Tigers, ranked 12th in Division III, won the opener, 6-1, and took the nightcap by an 11-1 score in six innings.
In the opener, the Tigers scored three in the top of the second on Drew Bratcher's two-run double and Emma Konrad's run-scoring grounder. Paige Price's sixth-inning double scored Grace Smith and Caelan Moran's single plated Price to make it 5-0. DePauw added one more in the seventh when Madi Lockridge scored on a wild pitch. The Sagehens' lone score came in the bottom of the seventh.
Caleigh Cramer, Smith and Price each had two of DePauw's 12 hits, while Taylor Lehner had two of Pomona-Pitzer's four.
Cami Henry improved to 8-4 after allowing just two hits in six innings, while striking out seven and not allowing a walk. Kailey Newkirk dropped to 1-4.
In the nightcap, the Tigers pounded out 15 hits and scored in five of six innings for an 11-1 win in a game shortened due to the run rule.
Emily Timberman's drove in three in the opening frame with a double and Smith added an RBI single. Katie Mathies added a two-run homer in the second to make if 6-0. DePauw scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and added three in the sixth. The Sagehens' lone run came in the fifth.
Mathies and Goose Moore each had three hits for the Tigers and Mathies drove in four. Kelsey Bernhard and Smith added two hits apiece. Emily Hurtado had two of Pomona-Pitzer's six hits.
Kersten Brayton improved to 2-1 after allowing just four hits during four innings of shutout pitching. Erika Rivera dropped to 2-5.
