Box Score 2 Elizabethtown, Ky. - The 11th-ranked DePauw softball team moved to 9-5 on the season and extended its win streak to six with a sweep of today's games including a 6-2 win over WashU and an 8-7 victory over Spalding.
The Tigers scored one in the first and two each in the second and third innings to grab a 5-0 lead.
Drew Bratcher had three of the Tigers' nine hits including a homer to lead off the second and an RBI single in the third. The Tigers added one more in the seventh before the Bears scored their two runs in the bottom of the frame.
Cami Henry improved to 7-4 after allowing just one hit in 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and just one walk. Madison Denton took the loss.
Against Spalding, the Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Tigers scored all eight of their runs in the bottom of the first. Spalding added three in the second and two in the seventh and had the potential go-ahead run at the plate, but DePauw's Kersten Brayton got the final batter to fly out.
Abby Pyburn had three of DePauw's 10 hits, while Alyssa Anderson and Chase Epp each had two. Bella Velez and Marcum each had two of Spalding's 10 hits.
Brayton improved to 2-1, while Velez took the loss.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, March 26, with a doubleheader at Pomona-Pitzer starting at Noon PDT.
