Box Score 2 Elizabethtown, Ky. - DePauw, ranked 11th in Division III, moved to 7-5 on the season after topping Wartburg, 10-2 in five innings and Trine by a 3-1 score at Transylvania's Pioneer Classic.
In the opener against Wartburg, the Knights scored on a wild pitch in the first, but DePauw countered in the bottom of the frame as Katie Mathies singled home Abby Pyburn.
Lauren Frerichs hit a solo homer in the Wartburg second before Kelsey Bernhard hit a solo shot in the bottom of the inning to even the score at 2-2.
Pinch-runner Macey Cox scored from third on a Wartburg throwing error in the third inning before Bernhard hit a three-run double to make it 6-2. Emily Timberman's solo homer in the fourth pushed the Tigers' lead to 7-2 before Katerina Kilgore singled home Kate Geary and Grace Smith in the fifth and Kilgore later came home a play was made on Paige Price at first after a strikeout.
Bernhard and Smith each had three of DePauw's 11 hits with Timberman adding two. Three different Knights collected one hit apiece.
Cami Henry moved to 5-4 after allowing three hits and striking out 10 with no walks. Ashley Nelson dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
In the second game, Trine took a 1-0 lead in the third as Mercede Daugherty singled home Ellie Trine.
In the DePauw fourth, Price led off with a single before Timberman clubbed a two-run homer to left. Goose Moore then doubled, moved to third on Drew Bratcher's sacrifice bunt and scored on Smith's groundout.
Price and Moore each had two of the Tigers' nine hits while Ashley Swartout had three of Trine's six hits.
Henry moved to 6-4 after striking out 11 and walking six and allowing six hits. Anna Koeppl dropped to 2-3.
DePauw faces WashU tomorrow at 10 a.m. and Spalding at 3 p.m.
