Tigers Finish Third in Davenport Quad Meet

Kentwood, Mich.: Totaling 579 points, the DePauw men's swimming team finished third in the Davenport Quad Meet. Host Davenport earned first place with 1,200 points, followed by Hope College with 788, and Kalamazoo came in fourth with 514 points.
 
DePauw finished third in all three of the relays. James Shorney, Michael Ray, Robbie Sheffield, and Ben Hilfinger finished third in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing the 200 in 1:28.77 and the 400 in 3:14.15. In the 400-yard medley relay Max Van Doran, Patrick Unterreiner, Hilfinger, and Shorney swam a 3:37.66. 
 
Hilfinger led DePauw in points and top three-finishes throughout the two-day quad meet. He earned first-place finishes in the 50-yard free and 100-yard butterfly, swimming the 50-free in 21.39 and the 100-butterfly in 50.66. Hilfinger also took home second place in the 100-yard free with a time of 46.88.
 
The Tigers totaled 24 top-ten individual finishes, with three swimmers earning top-six finishes at the Davenport Quad. Brock Kinnamon earned a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.12), Evan Steffy finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (48.50), and Ray swam the 50-yard free in 22.22 for sixth place.
 
DePauw will compete in the Phoenix Fall Classic at the University of Chicago from Friday, November 18, through Sunday, November 20.
