Tigers Finish Season with Senior Night Shutout

Greencastle, Ind.- Completing its season on a high note, the DePauw men's soccer team beat the Hiram College Terriers 4-0 on Senior day. DePauw finished its season 6-7-5 overall and 1-5-2 in conference play, while the Terriers dropped to 1-15 overall and 0-8 in NCAC play. 
 
The Tigers controlled the game's pace from the first whistle, and after 35 minutes of play, senior Brady Bell would score two goals within a minute of each other. Bell's first goal of the game came in the 36th minute off a one-touch deflection following a crossed pass by Ben Weidner
Just a minute later, a long ball by Sam Thiel found its way to Bell's feet just inside the box for his second goal of the game.
 
Up 2-0 at the half, DePauw continued to find success on the offensive end in the second half. In the 56th minute, senior Nick Mourouzis scored the Tigers' third goal after heading in a corner kick by Alex Backhaus. The Tigers'final goal of the afternoon came in the 69th minute Sam Thiel recovered a loose ball in Hiram's defensive half and snuck a quick shot just past the goalie for goal number four of the day.
 
The Tigers outshot the Terriers 23-9 and recorded 11 corners while giving up just two on the other end. In goal, Evan Sajtar recorded three saves, while Hiram's CJ Timm had six saves in the net.
 
The game marked the final for DePauw head coach Brad Hauter who led the Tigers for 15 seasons and a total of 26 seasons as a collegiate men's and women's head coach. Prior to DePauw, Hauter coached six seasons at St. Mary's (Minn.), leading the Cardinals to a 57-41-6 mark, before moving on to become the women's head coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2001, where he directed Rose-Hulman's women program to an 86-39-6 record in seven seasons and the men's program to a 55-37-5 record in five seasons. Hauter finished his DePauw career with a 160-69-40 record.
