Box Score Greencastle, Ind.: The DePauw University Field Hockey team came up short in its 2-1 loss against the Rhodes College Lynx.
In the first quarter of play DePauw and Rhodes stayed within step of each other, with the Tigers only allowing the Lynx one shot on goal to its three.
However, in the second quarter Rhodes managed to push DePauw into its own half getting off eight shots, two of which resulted in a goal.
Down at the half 2-0, in the third quarter at 38:48 Maddie DeAscentis managed to gather a deflected save and put it into the back of the box to cut Rhodes' lead in half.
Despite the Lynx 14 shots on goal and 10 penalty corners in the second half, the Tigers held Rhodes to just two goals. Scarlett Oaks would finish the afternoon with nine saves, while Marley Heitman and Maria Hewitt a pair of defensive stops for DePauw.
The Tigers move to 0-2 in the season and face Concordia Wisconsin on the road on Saturday, September 11 at 10 am CDT.
