Box Score Greencastle, Ind.: The DePauw University men's soccer team completed the Wilmington College Kiwanis Classic by blanking the Manchester University Spartans 5-0 at Reavis Stadium.
Similar to its previous two games the Tigers' jumped to an early lead off an unassisted goal by Zach Napora just 15 minutes into the match.
The game's momentum remained in favor of DePauw in the 27th minute when Flynn Sheehan's free-kick toward the goal found the head of Jacob Fowler, putting the Tigers up 2-0 midway through the first half.
In the second half, DePauw picked up right where they left off, and in the 54th minute, Napora tallied his second goal of the game thanks to a slip pass by Ben Weidner.
Sammy Gonzalez put in the Tigers' fourth goal of the afternoon after capitalizing on a well-placed pass from center field by teammate Nathan Schoenfeld. Up 4-0, DePauw never let up in the second half; they held the Spartans to just three shots, to its nine. The Tigers managed to put one more into the back of Manchester's net after Jalyn Crittenden recovered a cleared ball and found Chase Brieger for Brieger's third goal of the season.
DePauw's next game is Wednesday, September 8, against Franklin College. The men's game will follow directly after the women's matchup against the Grizzlies, with a start time of 7:30 pm EDT.
