Late Goals Send DePauw to Defeat in Season Opener

Holland, Mich. - Host Hope scored three times in a span of just over four minutes late in the second half and sent DePauw to a 4-1 defeat in the season-opening game for both squads.

DePauw's Abbie Morris scored the game's first goal at the 15:45 mark of the opening half before Madison Holloway evened the count at 33:09.

Holloway's unassisted goal at 77:10 proved to be the game winner, but Sarah Mikesell and Ali Sorg scored in a 30-second span with less than 10 minutes left to seal the victory.

The Flying Dutch outshot DePauw, 32-7, including a 17-3 advantage in shots on goal. Each team had three corners.

Reanna Stiehler recorded six saves in the opening half for DePauw, while Maya Caldwell had seven in the second half. Parker Hutchinson stopped a pair of DePauw shots in goal for Hope.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, September 4, when it travels to Kalamazoo for a 4 p.m. contest.
