Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw moved to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference following a 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19) win over visiting Allegheny. The Gators dropped to 10-4 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC.
In the opening set, the Tigers held a 9-7 lead before going on a 7-2 run and the Gators got no closer than five the rest of the set. DePauw trailed, 8-4, in the second set but scored 16 of the next 18 points including the final six of the stretch to take control. The Tigers were on the verge of closing out the match in the third set, but couldn't hold a 23-19 advantage as Allegheny outscored the Tigers, 7-1, and trimmed DePauw's match lead to 2-1. The Tigers scored the first five points of the final set and never trailed on the way to the win.
The Tigers outhit Allegheny, .158-.018, and held a 50-34 edge in kills on the way to the victory. Jessica Levy led DePauw with 13 kills and Olivia Karwin added 12 while hitting .323. Cheyenne Wilson paced Allegheny with seven kills.
Grace Filbrun assisted on 22 of the kills and Karwin added 19 with Olivia D'Andrea leading the Gators with 20. DePauw also held a 13-6 edge in aces with Emma White totaling five for DePauw. Jenna Purichia recorded a match-high 28 digs for the Tigers with Katie Gansle leading with six blocks and the Tigers held an 11.0-6.0 advantage as a team.
DePauw travels to Denison on Wednesday, September 29, for a 7 p.m. match.
