Box Score Wooster, Ohio- The DePauw University field hockey team fell to the College of Wooster 1-2 in its first of two games this weekend.
The Fighting Scots got the jump on the Tigers early, off an unassisted goal by Wooster's Lucy Agurkis in the first minute of quarter one.
Despite being outshot 0-7 in the first, DePauw buckled down defensively, giving up just two shots to the Fighting Scots in the second quarter.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, in the 40th minute of play, Wooster extended its lead to two goals forcing DePauw to play more aggressively in its attacking half.
DePauw forced three penalty corners to the Fighting Scots one in the fourth quarter and managed to capitalize on its final penalty corner attempt when Christina Bourantas connected with Maddie DeAscentis to cut the lead in half. Time, however, was not on the Tigers' side, resulting in a final score of 2-1 Wooster outcome.
DePauw stays in Ohio and plays Kenyon on Sunday, September 26, with game time set for 12 pm EDT.
