Box Score Greencastle, Ind.: The DePauw men's soccer team tallied its fourth shutout and fifth win overall in its 1-0 victory over the Olivet College Comets.
From the first whistle, the play on the pitch was physical between the Tigers and the Comets, with 11 total fouls between the two teams. Despite getting four corners and putting up eight shots, DePauw was shut down by Olivet's defense, keeping the game tied at zero at the half.
In the second half, however, the Tigers finally wore down the Comets' backline, and in the 62nd minute of play, Samuel Renggli crossed the ball from the left side of the box to the right side to find Sam Thiel for a quick deflection into the goal.
Up 1-0, with over 30 minutes left in regulation, DePauw maintained its composure and forced two more corners in the half while stifling Olivet's chances to even the match.
The Tigers move to 5-0 overall and travel to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday, September 15, at 7 pm EDT.
