Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The seventh-ranked DePauw Tigers beat Rose-Hulman 7-1 at home, after holding the Fightin' Engineers to just one run off four hits, improving to 17-2.
Skylar Barnett opened the bottom of the first with a home run to notch the first run of the game for the Tigers.
DePauw's second run of the game came off a ground out by Katerina Kilgore, which allowed Jade Mejia Wick to advance to second and take advantage of an overthrown ball at third. Mejia Wick broke from third base and evaded Rose-Hulman's catcher, MaKenzie Morgan's tag, at home to score.
The Tigers would score four more runs off three hits in the second, giving DePauw a commanding 6-0 lead early in the game.
The Tigers' final run of the game came in the third. Alyssa Anderson's single through center field got teammate Goose Moore on the plate to pinch run, who would go on to steal two bases to off a sacrifice bunt by Olivia Jackson. With Moore on third, Chase Epp singled to the left infield forcing an error by Rose-Hulman and plating Moore for the Tiger's seventh run.
Rose-Hulman's Angela Boulboulle looked to start a run for the Fightin' Engineers after a home run to open the fourth inning. DePauw quickly recovered, allowing just one more hit in the inning before stringing together three quick outs.
The Tigers held Rose-Hulman to that single run, allowing zero hits and leaving two Fightin' Engineers across the final three innings.
DePauw totaled eight hits, with Kaylyn Linder leading the team with two, while four Fightin' Engineers collected one hit each.
Annika Garwood improved to 2-2, while Mackenzi Hunt moved to 2-1.
The Tigers play a doubleheader on the road against WashU on Saturday, April 10.
