Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The #15 DePauw University men's basketball team improved to 9-1 after defeating the Wittenberg University Tigers 76-45 at home.
DePauw grabbed control of the game from the start, quickly jumping to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes of the first half.
By the eight-minute mark, the DePauw Tigers' lead ballooned to 22 points, holding Wittenberg to just four points.
Despite shooting under 40% from the field, DePauw would end the half with two starters in double digits and outscoring Wittenberg 12 to 1 in second-chance points to end the half with a 33-13 lead.
In the second half, the DePauw Tigers continued to control the game's pace, forcing six turnovers, which resulted in 13 points on the other end.
DePauw would outscore Wittenberg 20 to 6 in the paint and improve to 46% from the field throughout the second half.
With just under six minutes left in regulation, senior forward Nolan Ginther scored his 1001st career point, making him the 27th in program history to reach the 1000th point platue.
The combination of persistence in the paint, dominance on the boards, and energy off the bench helped the DePauw Tigers defeat the Wittenberg Tigers by such a large margin.
