Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The #14 DePauw University men's basketball team topped the Denison University Big Red 71-58 at home, improving to 8-1 for the season.
The Tigers came out with energy in its second game against the Big Red this week. From the first points of the half to the last, DePauw found success in the paint. Putting up 18 of its 35 points in the lane.
Along with consistently getting good looks down low, the Tigers committed only three turnovers and two fouls in the half.
Nolan Ginther would lead the team in points putting up a quiet yet assertive 19 points in the half.
Though DePauw managed to stretch its lead to double digits by the end of the half, Denison would not be put away easily.
At the start of the second half, both teams struggled to find their rhythm. However, the combination of patience around the arc and the key allowed the Tigers to control the pace of the game, resulting in a 19 point lead with 14 minutes left in the game.
The Big Red would continue to fight for position in the paint, but DePauw continuously answered with strong defensive stops and methodical offensive attacks on the other end.
Finishing the game, shooting 52% from the field, and getting to the line late in the second half helped the Tigers put the game away.
DePauw is back at Neal Fieldhouse on Thursday, February 25, facing Wittenberg University at 6 pm EST.
