Chicago, Ill.- The DePauw men's swimming and diving team faced tough competition while competing in the University of Chicago Phoenix Classic, completing the three-day invitational in third-place, after Saint Louis University and the first-place hosts, University of Chicago.
Leading the team in earned points, Patrick Unterreiner finished eighth in the 200-yard IM (1:58.03) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.68). Unterreiner also finished 9th in the 400-yd IM with a time of 4:18.80.
James Shorney tallied a third-place finish in the 100-yard free with a time of 46.37, and Seth Fagen took 10th in the 200-yard IM(2:05.19)
The Tigers finished sixth in the 800-yard free relay with Braden Mallery, Tommy Hackley, Will Plumb, Brock Kinnamon( 7:19.67). DePauw earned eighth in the 200-yard free relay with Alex Rodgers, Kinnamon, Spencer Boyd, and Shorney (1:27.49), while Fagen, Unterreiner, Kellen Bachler, and Shorney finished ninth in the 200-yard medley relay. Rounding out the relays were Kinnamon, Mallery, Hackley, and Shorney, who finished 10th in the 400-yard free relay.
DePauw hosts Wabash College on Saturday, December 4, in Erdmann Natatorium at 1 pm EST.
