Box Score Crawfordsville, Ind.- The DePauw men's soccer team fell 1-2 on the road in its loss to Wabash College.
Both teams played with a chip on their shoulder from the first whistle as the DePauw versus Wabash rivalry helped fuel each bench.
After over 30 minutes of both teams vying for position on goal, Wabash managed to get on the board off an unassisted shot in the box by the Little Giants' Coledon Johnson.
Down by a goal, DePauw fought to keep the goal differential within striking distance. The Tigers' efforts paid off in the 42nd- minute when senior defender Clay Troyer turned and scored after gathering a rerouted ball by Joel Thompkins to knot the game up at a goal apiece.
Despite having momentum heading into the second half, DePauw was met by a tenacious Wabash defense, which held the Tigers to just three shots to its eight. Controlling the pace of the second half, the Little Giants forced three corners and put in the winning goal off a deflection in its final corner of the afternoon.
The Tigers move to 10-7 overall and 4-4 in North Coast Athletic Conference play. DePauw is back at Reavis Stadium on Saturday, October 29, for its senior day game. The Tigers take on Kenyon College at 12 pm EDT.
