Box Score Greencastle, Ind. The DePauw men's soccer team recorded its sixth shutout in its 2-0 victory over the Allegheny College Gators.
Though DePauw outshot its opponents 8-4 in the first half, had three corner attempts, and forced six fouls on Allegheny, it wasn't until the second half that the Tigers would get on the board.
In the 48th minute of play, the Tigers Chase Brieger found Sam Thiel on the right top corner of the box. Thiel took one touch on the ball and shot a rocket off the left post into the goal, putting DePauw up 1-0.
Desperate to knot up the game, Allegheny turned up its offense and recorded seven shots throughout the second half.
Though the Gators managed to get some good looks on goal, the Tigers quickly cleared balls out of the box and pushed play into its attacking half.
DePauw would score again in the 68th-minute when Clay Troyer deflected Nick Mourouzis' shot on goal to put the Tigers up 2-0.
The Tigers 9-6 overall and 3-3 in NCAC play travel to Wabash College on Wednesday, October 27, with a game-time set for 4 pm EDT.
