Tigers Lose to Battling Bishops 1-3

Box Score

Delaware, Ohio- A late goal by the DePauw women's soccer team wasn't enough to come back in its 1-3 loss to Ohio Wesleyan.

The Tigers and the Battling Bishops played a physical game throughout the 90-minute matchup. In the first half, Ohio Wesleyan kept the ball in its attacking half, outshooting DePauw 11-4 and eventually wearing down the defense to go up 0-1 before the half.

In the second half, the Tigers managed to push play into its attacking half and record 18 shots to the Battling Bishops seven. Unfortunately for DePauw, Ohio Wesleyan still managed to put two of its seven shots into the back of the Tigers' net, going up 0-3 with just 13 minutes left in the game.

Igniting some energy on the field in the 85th-minute, Jess Purtee slipped a pass to Alaina Novotny, who found Sarah Bird on the far left edge of the Battling Bishops' goal. Bird would take one touch and kick a rocket into the top right corner of Ohio Wesleyan's goal.

Time was not on the Tigers' side, and the Battling Bishops did everything in their power to eat up the remaining time in regulation.

DePauw moves to 1-4-1 in the NCAC and is back home on Saturday, October 23, against Allegheny College, with a game-time set for 12 pm.
