Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University field hockey team was defeated by the College of Wooster Fighting Scots 1-2 in a double-overtime loss at home.
In the first quarter of play, the Tigers kept the ball in its attacking end, outshooting the Fighting Scots 4-2, and tallying five penalty corners, while blanking Wooster on the other end.
Despite its defensive efforts in the second quarter, the Fighting Scots managed to slip one past goalkeeper Bella Lauber in the 21st minute to put Wooster up by one.
The Tigers would finally have an answer for the Fighting Scots in the fourth quarter when Maria Hewitt gathered a ball in front of a congested Wooster cage and scored, tying the game at one- apiece.
In the first overtime, neither team was able to break through its opponents' backline. However, in the second overtime, Wooster outshot DePauw 3-0 and forced two corners, one of which led to the game-winning goal.
The Tigers move to 2-3 in NCAC play and 4-9 overall. DePauw completes its home game schedule on Tuesday, October 19, against Wittenberg University, with a game-time of 4 pm.
