DePauw Opens Season wtih Fifth-Place Showing at Indiana Intercollegiates

West Lafayette, Ind. - DePauw opened the 2021-22 season at the Indiana Intercollegiates, hosted by Purdue, and the Tigers placed fifth among the 12 schools which included six Division I programs. The Tigers totaled 87 points, while Purdue won with 641.5.

Elise Umbach scored in a pair of events with a 12th in the 100-yard individual medley (1:01.60) and a 15th in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.42).

Three Tigers scored in the 500 free led by Tara Holder in 11th (5:19.85), Emily Thompson in 15th (5:28.61) and Megan Mackenzie in 16th (5:30.27).

Maggie Perry finished 11th in the 50 free (24.91), while Claire Sweetwood was 12th (24.97). Sammie Waples turned in a 15th in the 100 free (55.77).

DePauw's 200 medley relay of Molly Ruggles, Umbach, Perry and Sweetwood was eighth in 1:51.43 and the 200 free relay of Waples, Perry, Mia Hagenauer and Sweetwood was sixth in 1:40.20.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, October 30, with a 1 p.m. meet at Bethel (Ind.).
