DePauw Opens Season with Sixth-Place Finish at Indiana Intercollegiates

West Lafayette, Ind. - DePauw opened the 2021-22 season at the Indiana Intercollegiates, hosted by Purdue, and the Tigers placed sixth among the 10 schools which included four Division I programs. DePauw totaled 84 points and Purdue won with 824.

James Shorney posted DePauw's best individual finish after placing seventh in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.14 seconds. He also was 16th in the 50 free (21.77).

Brock Kinnamon was 10th in the 100 free (48.65) and 11th in the 200 free (1:47.45), while Nikita Polyakov also scored in two events with a 15th in the 100 butterfly (53.14) and 16th in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.07). 

Tommy Hackley placed 15th in the 100 free (50.75) and Evan Steffy was 16th in the event (51.07).

DePauw's 200 medley relay of Seth Fagen, Patrick Unterreiner, Polyakov and Shorney was seventh (1:38.30), while the 200 free relay of Kinnamon, Robbie Sheffield, Hackley and Spencer Boyd was eighth (1:29.60).

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, October 30, with a 1 p.m. meet at Bethel (Ind.).
