Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's soccer team extended its win streak to three after defeating the Wittenberg University Tigers 4-1 at home.
In the battle of the Tigers, DePauw struck first. The DePauw Tigers' forward Sam Thiel finessed his way past the defenders and placed a ball right in front of teammate Jacob Fowler for the first of four goals in the 34th-minute of play.
Thiel would tally his second assist of the night in the 43rd-minute of play after slipping a ball to Ben Weidner for his fifth goal of the season.
In the second half, Wittenberg cut DePauw's lead to one after gathering a short, clear attempt by DePauw. However, the DePauw Tigers would go back up by two goals following a penalty kick goal by senior midfielder Flynn Sheehan.
Giving DePauw a three-goal cushion, Sheehan would find the back of the net once more in the 82nd-minute of play, solidifying its win over the Wittenberg Tigers.
DePauw moves to 3-1 in the conference and 9-4 overall. The Tigers are back at Reavis Stadium Saturday, October 16, at 2:30 pm EDT.
