Box Score 2 Tucson, Ariz. - DePauw split its Saturday games at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Leadoff Class and moved to 5-3 on the season. The Tigers topped Alma, 1-0, before dropping a 12-1 contest to WashU.
In the opener against Alma, the teams battled through three scoreless innings before DePauw scored the game's lone run in the fourth inning. Grace Smith singled with one out and stole second and scored on Jordyn Fera's two-out double.
Kaylyn Linder finished with two of DePauw's six hits, while Madyson Piche collected two of Alma's four hits. Cami Henry picked up the win and improved to 3-1 with the four-hit shutout that included nine strikeouts. Daniella Little dropped to 3-1 after striking out eight.
WashU scored three in the first with DePauw countering with a single run in the second as Mac Jones led off with a single. Pinch-runner Yasmin McClellan scored following an error on Kate Geary's single.
The Bears came right back with three in the second, one in the fourth before ending the game with the run-rule after scoring five in the fourth.
Four different Tigers collected one hit each with Tami Wong pacing WashU with three. Riley Magoon dropped to 1-1 and Madison Dention improved to 3-2.
DePauw faces Emerson at 9 a.m. MST on Sunday and Pacific Lutheran at 11 a.m. MST.
