Box Score 2 Tucson, Ariz. - Eighth-ranked DePauw suffered its first losses of the season as it dropped a 6-1 game to fourth-ranked East Texas Baptist and a 7-2 contest to 12th-ranked Central at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Leadoff Classic. The Tigers fell to 4-2 with the losses.
East Texas Baptist took a 5-0 lead with two in the first, one in the second and two in the fifth before the Tigers reached the board in the fifth.
Caleigh Cramer led off with a single and pinch-runner Olivia Jackson moved to second on Grace Smith's bunt single. Jade Mejia Wick's sacrifice bunt advanced both runners and Jordyn Fera's grounder plated Jackson. East Texas Baptist added a final run in the seventh.
Becca St. Germain led DePauw with two of its six hits, while Daniella Solis and Emily Deramus each had two of East Texas Baptist's seven hits.
Julia Bork dropped to 1-1 with the loss, while Lara Beatriz improved to 7-0.
In the second game of the day, Central took a 1-0 lead in the first before DePauw grabbed the lead in the top of the second. Smith led off by reaching on an error before Cami Henry doubled her home. Cramer walked and Kaylyn Linder singled to load the bases before Skylar Barnett brought Henry home after drawing a walk.
The Tigers took that lead into the sixth, but Central scored six starting with Kaitlyn Andresen's three-run homer.
Four different DePauw players collected one hit each, while Sara Tallmana had three of Central's seven hits.
Henry dropped to 2-1, while Morgan Schaben improved to 1-0.
DePauw faces Alma and WashU today at 9 and 11 a.m. MST, respectively.
