Career Highs Help Tigers Beat Gators 76-62

Box Score

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University men's basketball team earned its third straight win at home after beating Allegheny College 76-62.

The Tigers' win was thanks in part to the phenomenal efforts of Nolan Ginther, who finished with a career-high 38 points, while tying his career-high in rebounds(14). Ginther's scoring, along with Nick Felke's career matching 11 assists, helped create scoring opportunities for not only themselves but also their teammates.

In the opening minutes of the game, Aaron Shank and Ginther would go 4-for-4 from behind the arc, forcing Allegheny to adjust its defense to cater to the Tigers' shooting depth.

Throughout the entirety of the game, there were only four lead changes, all of which occurred in the first five minutes of the first half. Once DePauw obtained its 12-8 lead, there was no looking back.

Despite shooting just 41% in the first half, and going 5-16 at the three-point line, DePauw played with poise and maintained the pace of the game. With only one turnover, and converting five points off of the Gators three turnovers, the Tigers contained Allegheny's offensive push in the final minutes of the half.

At the start of the second half, the Tigers would get a crucial stop and sink the first basket to increase its lead to four. Though the Gators would cut the lead to as little as one, DePauw continued to play its game and began to pull away.

Holding Allegheny to just 9-29 from the field in the second half and out-scoring the Gators 4-12 in second-chance points, the Tigers' team play earned them a big conference win before hitting the road to face the Little Giants.

DePauw improves to 9-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference and is 12-9 overall. The Tigers travel to Wabash on Wednesday, Feb. 12, with a start time of 7 p.m.
