Tigers Top Terriers in Late 75-69 Victory

Box Score

Hiram, Ohio- The DePauw University men's basketball team earns its second North Coast Athletic Conference win in a 75-69 victory over Hiram College.

DePauw opened its contest against Hiram with back-to-back three-pointers, quickly setting the pace in its fourth NCAC matchup.

The Tigers would maintain a lead over the Terriers for over three-fourths of the first half, committing just five turnovers while forcing its opponents to commit ten turnovers. DePauw would tally 11 points off Hiram's turnovers while outscoring the Terriers bench 14-2.

Finishing the first-half 6-12 from behind the arc, the Tigers would start the second half up 40-32.

Unwilling to be put away with ease, the Terriers came back with determination in the second half. DePauw's eight-point lead gradually diminished to a five-point deficit after seven minutes of play.

Suddenly cold from behind the arc, the Tigers began to look inside and attack the basket. Giving life back to the Tigers offense, Nolan Ginther put up 13 of his 22 points in the second half.

Between Ginther's dominance in the paint and Nick Felke's ability to create offense anywhere on the floor, DePauw took back the lead, 62-59, with five minutes left in the game.

Though Hiram managed to tie the game once again at 66, the Tigers kept its composure and finished the game on top.

DePauw improves to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in NCAC play. The Tigers' next game is Sunday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. at Allegheny. This Freaky Fast post game report is sponsored by Jimmy John's in Greencastle, Indiana.

I can receive a top notch education while competing at a high athletic level. The connections I will make at DePauw as well as being in the Management Fellows program were also very important factors as to why I chose DePauw.
