Box Score Delaware, Ohio- The DePauw University men's basketball team drop just its third road game of the season to the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops, 55-77.
A deciding conference matchup between the Tigers and the Battling Bishops played out in favor of Ohio Wesleyan, who grabbed the fourth seed in the NCAC with a dominating win over DePauw.
Shooting just 34% from the field, the Tigers struggled to find a rhythm against the Battling Bishops' fast-paced transition offense.
From the starting five, Nick Felke and Aaron Shank put up a combined ten points, while Nolan Niego and Cooper Mixon brought a spark off the bench to combine for the half's remaining 11 points.
Unfortunately for DePauw, Ohio Wesleyans offensive efficiency stifled any chance for the Tigers to make a comeback late in the first half.
Going into the second half down by 19, DePauw walked onto the court eager to make up the point difference and get back into the game.
That eagerness resulted in DePauw cutting the lead to as little as 13 points with over 15 minutes left in the game, but that was the closest the Tigers would get to the Battling Bishops in the second half.
Despite forcing five turnovers in the second half and holding Ohio Wesleyan to just 48% from the field, the Tigers were unable to make a late run to decrease the lead to single digits.
DePauw moves to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the NCAC. The Tigers' next home game is Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. against Wabash College.
