Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw closed to within 14-10 early in the fourth against Wittenberg, but the visiting Tigers responded with a drive that lasted 8:08 and resulted in a field goal and a 17-10 North Coast Athletic Conference victory. DePauw dropped to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in NCAC play, while Wittenberg moved to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in NCAC action.

Wittenberg took a 7-0 lead on the game's first series when DeShawn Sarley caught a 6-yard pass from Bobby Froehlich with 8:14 left to cap a 12-play, 75-yard drive.

DePauw responded as Josh Major returned the ensuing kickoff 40 yards to the DePauw 46. Eight plays later, Jack Drake booted a 42-yard field goal to trim the lead to 7-3 with 3:34 remaining in the first.

Early in the second, Wittenberg drove to the DePauw 6, but DePauw's Henry Locked blocked Christian Seger's 22-yard field goal. The host Tigers quickly drove into Wittenberg territory as Chase Andries teamed with Ethan Hudson for a 39-yard gain to the Wittenberg 35 on the third play. DePauw's drive stalled at the Wittenberg 21 before Drake missed a 38-yard field goal try.

Wittenberg took over on its own 21 and Froehlich completed a 32-yard pass to Tristan Davis on the first play to move into DePauw territory. Jaheem Washington followed with a 19-yard run on the next play. Froehlich later connected with Davis again for a 33-yard score to push the lead to 14-3 with 1:08 left in the half.

DePauw drove to the Wittenberg 33 on the next possession, but Andries was sacked on fourth down, ending the threat.

The teams exchanged punts throughout the third quarter before DePauw's Connor Perkins picked off Froehlich at the Wittenberg 38 on a third-and-five play. Andries connected with Jarrod Stiver for 33 yards on second down and Andries tossed a 5-yard scoring strike to Cam Haynes to closed the gap to 14-10 at the 9:53 mark of the fourth.

Wittenberg started the next drive on its own 18 and converted three consecutive third downs to the DePauw 45. Three straight carries by Washington netted 39 yards but holding penalties on back-to-back plays moved the ball back to the 33. Froehlich's third down pass to Jake Saus covered 15 yards to the DePauw 15 and Seger came on to nail a 32-yard field goal to push the lead to 17-10 with just 1:40 remaining.

DePauw began its final drive on its own 32 and a Wittenberg personal foul on second down gave the hosts a first down at the DePauw 49. Andries completed a 13-yard pass to Gavin Ritter on second down before Andries was sacked on the next play and then intercepted by Troy Jones at the Wittenberg 23 which sealed the victory.

Wittenberg outgained DePauw, 378-239, including 138-94 on the ground, and possessed the ball for 34:01.

Andries rushed for 36 yards on 12 carries and completed 14 of 25 passes for 145 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Hudson led the Tigers with five catches for 59 yards.

Washington rushed for 75 yards on 14 tries with Froehlich completing 20 of 28 for 240 yards with two scores and one interception. Davis, Sam Kayser and Sarley each caught four.

Jake Labus led the DePauw defense with 15 rackles with Nathan Seifert and Perkins each totaling nine. Seifert had the Tigers' lone sack and led with two tackles for loss.

Jonathan Seay led Wittenberg with nine tackles and William Wooldridge totaled one sack.
