Titans Overpower Tigers in Season Opener

Box Score

Aug. 31, 2019 (Dallas, Texas)- The DePauw University women's soccer team struggled to even the score in their 3-1 loss to UW-Oshkosh.

The Tigers first regular-season game started on a sour note, with an early goal by UW-Oshkosh. Though the goal set DePauw back, they kept their composure and continued to attack the Titans' defensive line for the remainder of the half.

After outshooting Oshkosh 5-1 in the first half and not capitalizing; the Tigers finally found the back of the net. Following a well-placed throw-in allowed Abbie Morris to see up the field and slip a pass to forward Sophia Silcox who came off the bench to give DePauw fresh legs.

With the game tied at one apiece, the Tigers remained in control for the remainder of the first half keeping the Titans on the defensive.

Coming back from halftime Oshkosh came out with the same energy that shocked DePauw in the first half. With just four minutes passed in the second half, the Titans score back to back goals solidifying a 3-1 lead over the Tigers.

Down by two goals, DePauw had to recover and find a way to stop the Titans offensive attacks. Fortunately for the Tigers, they were able to improve defensively, but despite their best efforts weren't able to finish on their attacking end.

The Tigers are back on the field to face tournament hosts UT-Dallas on Sept. 1 at 8 PM EDT. To following along with a live streaming broadcast click HERE.

Thinking about furthering my academic career I was looking for a liberal arts school that would provide me with high academics and the ability to push myself as well as better myself in a smaller environment.
