Henry Tosses No-Hitter and Blanks Denison in Doubleheader Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw's Cami Henry pitched all 14 innings in the Tigers' North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against visiting Denison and made it a historic day in tossing two shutouts including a no-hitter in the opener as the Tigers swept the Big Red by scores of 3-0 and 4-0. DePauw improved to 15-9 overall and 6-0 in the NCAC, while Denison dropped to 10-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

DePauw's first run came with two outs in the second as Grace Smith doubled and scored on Sidney Holler's single. The Tigers added two more in the third as Kate Geary singled and stole second before Jade Mejia Wick delivered a two-out RBI double and Jordyn Fera drove her in with a single to right.

Henry allowed just three base runners in the contest with two coming in the sixth as the first two Denison hitters reached on walks. Henry pitched out of the jam with a foul out, fielder's choice and pop up.

Smith and Holler each had two of DePauw's seven hits. Henry moved to 8-5 with the win and tossed the first no-hitter for the Tigers since Kahla Nolan's five-inning performance against Oberlin on April 11, 2015. The last seven-inning no-hitter for DePauw came on March 24, 2008, when Megan Soultz and Kristin Barrow combined to no-hit Otterbein. The last seven-inning no-hit complete game by a Tigers pitcher was on March 6, 2004, by Hillary Enyart against Millilkin. Denison's Taryn Welch dropped to 5-3.

Henry took the ball in the second game and allowed just six hits. Alyssa Nowak led off the DePauw third with a single, moved to third on Kaylyn Linder's sacrifice bunt and scored on Geary's bunt single. The Tigers added three more runs in the fifth.

Six different Denison players had one hit each, while four Tigers each collected one hit. Henry improved to 9-5 and Colleen Hoffman moved to 4-4.

Henry has now thrown three straight shutouts and held opponents scoreless over the last 21 1/3 innings. She is the first pitcher to pitch shutouts in both ends of a doubleheader for the Tigers since Nolan blanked Kenyon (4-0, 3-0) on March 30, 2014.

DePauw travels to Hiram on Saturday, April 13, for a 1 p.m. NCAC doubleheader.
