Tigers Sweep Allegheny to Stay Undefeated in NCAC

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw scored in four of the five innings of game one of its North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against Allegheny on the way to a 12-4 win before taking a 6-0 victory in the second game for the sweep. The Tigers improved to 13-9 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC, while the Gators dropped to 7-13 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Jordyn Fera gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the first when she singled home Kate Geary, but Allegheny grabbed a 2-1 advantage on Samantha Valera's RBI single in the second and Kyleigh Cason's run-scoring single in the third.

Becca St. Germain put the Tigers ahead for good with a three-run homer in the third. Allegheny's Delaney Harrison-Peters scored in the fourth when Joplin Osgood was thrown out at second attempting to steal.

The Tigers put together a six-run fourth as Mac Jones singled home Sarah Beischer before St. Germain smashed another three-homer. Beischer and Geary later drew bases loaded walks to make it 10-3.

Allegheny added an unearned run in the fifth before the Tigers ended the game with the run rule in the bottom of the fifth on Fera's RBI double and Kaylyn Linder's run-scoring single.

Jones and Fera each had three of DePauw's 12 hits, while St. Germain and Jade Mejia Wick each had two. St. Germain drove in six in the win. Valera had two of Allegheny's six hits.

Riley Magoon improved to 2-0 with the win in relief and Tori Vradenburg dropped to 3-7.

DePauw's Cami Henry struck out nine and tossed a two-hitter in improving to 7-5 with the win in game two. Meghan Gonzalez doubled home Beischer in the third before Grace Smith plated Chase Epp with a double in the fourth and later scored on Alyssa Nowak's single.

Sidney Holler's double in the fifth score Gonzalez and Paige Price wrapped up the scoring with a two-run double in the same inning.

Gonzalez led DePauw with three of its 12 hits, while Epp and Smith each added two. 

Kala Mahen dropped to 3-5 for Allegheny.

DePauw is scheduled to travel to Kenyon for an NCAC doubleheader tomorrow with first pitch at 1 p.m. The twinbill was originally scheduled for March 30 but weather forced its postponement.
