DePauw Rallies for Doubleheader Split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw topped Thomas More by a 10-2 count in game two of its doubleheader to earn a split after dropping the opener, 7-2. The Tigers are now 18-10 and had their nine-game win streak snapped, while Thmas More moved to 25-9.

In the opener, the Saints grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as Mary Beth Odom singled home Alix DeDreu and the Tigers matched that in the bottom half of the inning when Jordyn Fera's single plated Kate Geary.

Thomas More scored four in the second as DeDreu doubled home Whitney Quillen and Baylee Hobeika and Andrea Gahan followed with a two-run homer.

Becca St. Germain's single in the third brought home Fera and cut the Saints' lead to 5-2, but Thomas More added a pair in the fourth on Kenzi Dickerson's sacrifice fly and Gahan's steal of home.

Fera, St. Germain and Grace Smith each had two of DePauw's nine hits, while DeDreu and Odom each had three of the Saints' 10 with Gahan totaling two.

Cami Henry dropped to 10-6, while DeDreu improved to 14-4.

In the nightcap, Sidney Holler's bunt single in the first scored Geary to put the Tigers ahead, 1-0. Odom's two-run single in the third plated Gahan and DeDreu and gave the Saints a 2-1 advantage.

DePauw regained the lead in the bottom of the third as Fera hit a solo homer with one out before Holler singled and moved to third on St. Germain's single. Smith made it 5-2 with a two-out, three-run homer.

The Tigers extended the lead to 8-2 in the fourth as Alyssa Nowak reached on an error, stole second and moved to third on Geary's single. After Geary stole second, Abey Bass drove in Nowak with a squeeze bunt. Fera followed with a bunt that scored both Geary and Bass.

DePauw ended the game with the run-rule in the sixth as Skylar Barnett singled before Fera slammed a two-run homer to center.

Fera had three of DePauw's 12 hits including a pair of homers, while Holler, St. Germain and Smith each collected two hits. Gahan had three of Thomas More's eight hits, while Odom added two.

Julia Bork improved to 2-1, while Kianah Towe dropped to 6-3.

DePauw returns to North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday when it hosts Wooster in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
