DePauw Outlasted by #3 Wittenberg in 88-63 Loss

Box Score

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University men's basketball team fell 88-63 to #3 Wittenberg University in its second North Coast Athletic Conference matchup of the season.

DePauw held its own against the nationally-ranked Wittenberg Tigers, putting points on the board first and trading baskets in the paint throughout the first ten minutes of play.

Thanks to the speed and physicality of Nolan Ginther around the rim, the Tigers finished the first half with a field goal percentage of 50 percent, while recording just two turnovers in the half.

Down by just five at the beginning of the second half, DePauw stuck with Wittenberg for the first five minutes; however, the Wittenberg Tigers put on some early pressure and began extending its shooting range beyond the arc.

With ten minutes left in the half, DePauw found itself down by double digits, with little success in stopping Wittenberg's offense. Despite a strong performance by Nick Felke, who put up 13 in the second half, the DePauw Tigers could not chisel away at its ranked opponents lead.

The DePauw Tigers struggled to put up threes going 3-12 in the second half, while Wittenberg shot 57 percent from three point range. Ultimately late turnovers, untimely fouls, and not enough players attacking the basket kept DePauw in the hole.

DePauw moves to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC and is on the road to play Oberlin College on Saturday, Dec. 7, with tip-off at 3 p.m.

I can receive a top notch education while competing at a high athletic level. The connections I will make at DePauw as well as being in the Management Fellows program were also very important factors as to why I chose DePauw.
