Greencastle, Ind. - On a rainy, windy afternoon at Blackstock Stadium, DePauw scored a touchdown and a safety during a 1:31 stretch of the second quarter and held on for an 8-6 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Allegheny. The Tigers moved to 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the NCAC, while the Gators dropped to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

In a game played in a driving rain nearly the entire 60 minutes, DePauw turned the ball over twice on downs in Allegheny territory in the opening stanza, but on the third series put together a 70-yard drive capped by James Deaton's 6-yard run on the second play of the second quarter. Jack Drake's point-after attempt was off the mark, but the Tigers held a 6-0 lead with 14:06 left in the half. 

DePauw's defense then forced an Allegheny punt, but a bad snap sailed into the end zone and punter Marcus Wolf pounced on it for a DePauw safety.

Following the ensuing free kick, the Tigers drove to the Allegheny 19, but were stopped on downs. Later in the second, following a DePauw fumble, the Gators drove to the DePauw 20, before a third-down sack by Brody Gude and Anthony Sansone pushed the ball back to the 27. Nick Leienweber's 44-yard field goal try was short and the Tigers ran out the first-half clock.

DePauw fumbled on back-to-back possessions of the third before Allegheny took over on its own 27 later in the quarter. Alex Victor rushed for 26 yards on the first play before quarterback Nazareth Greer converted a third down by teaming with Ben Bachik for a 36-yard pass on the final play of the third. Victor carried on fourth-and-three from the DePauw 5 and fumbled out-of-bounds at the 2 for a first down. Tonye Hamiton carried on the next play to cut the lead to 8-6 with 13:12 left in the fourth. Greer's two-point conversion pass over the middle failed.

After Allegheny's defense forced a three-and-out, Allegheny took over on its own 45. Greer connected with Victor for 23 yards to the DePauw 25 on third-and-15 and Trey Adams carried for five on second down. Adam Pozzobon sacked Greer on third down and Leinenweber's 41-yard effort missed to the right. 

The Gators had two more chances, but turned the ball over on downs in their own territory both times with their last play ending less than a yard short of a first down at midfield with 41 seconds remaining.

DePauw outgained Allegheny, 256-186 and held a 197-64 advantage on the ground with a 17-10 edge in first downs.

Liam Pooler rushed for a career-high 87 yards on 17 carries, while Jarrod Stiver added 65 on 14 tries. Collin Knecht completed 6-of-13 passes for 59 yards with three going to Ethan Hudson for 26 yards with Pooler hauling in two for 27 yards.

Victor rushed for 29 yards on two carries with Greer completing 14 of 27 passes for 122 yards. Victor caught nine for 48 yards and Bachik totaled 49 yards on three catches.

Charlie Gruner led the Tigers with nine tackles, while Pozzobon led with 1.0 sacks and Sansone and Gude each followed with 0.5. Connor Perkins had the game's lone interception.

Chase Balla paced Allegheny with seven tackles and Darian Parrish had 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.

DePauw heads on the road for the final time this season when it travels to Denison for a 1 p.m. NCAC contest on Saturday, November 2.
