Springfield, Ohio- The DePauw University, men's soccer team fell in overtime 1-2 to the Wittenberg University Tigers.

From the very beginning of the match, there was intensity on the field that seemed to fuel each team. The Wittenberg Tigers entered the game with an NCAC record of 0-3, while DePauw sat at 2-1.

Early in the match, Wittenberg put pressure on the DePauw defensive line. Despite such consistent pressure, the DePauw Tigers' goalkeeper Dylan Ruzbasan kept control.

Thanks to a penalty kick save midway through the first half, Ruzbasan helped keep the game scoreless before halftime.

Much like in the first half, the Wittenberg Tigers drove the game's pace, forcing DePauw to defend its goal tactfully.

Fortunately for the DePauw Tigers, the fight for fifty-fifty balls paid off in the 53rd -minute of play. After gaining possession of the ball following a foul by Wittenberg, DePauw cleared the ball up the right side of the field to find Carlos Martinez. Martinez then maneuvered his way through Wittenberg's defensive line to find Jay Klein on the other side of the box to score and give DePauw a 1-0 advantage.

DePauw would hold onto that lead up until the 71st- minute of the game. With Wittenberg biting at every chance to control the ball, the Wittenberg Tigersfinally caught a break and rushed DePauw's goal, creating commotion and ultimately tying the game at one apiece.

Unable to answer, DePauw and Wittenberg went into overtime. Unfortunately, for the DePauw Tigers, Wittenberg forced its way into the DePauw half and earned a corner kick. Once again, the overcrowding and commotion in front of the goal proved to benefit the Wittenberg Tigers, giving them a 2-1 overtime win over DePauw.

DePauw continues NCAC play this Saturday, Oct. 19, at Denison University with a game-time set for 2:30 p.m.
