DePauw Opens Season with Indiana DIII Invitational Win

Crawfordsville, Ind. - DePauw won 15 events and totaled 1,034 points to win the Indiana DIII Invitational. Hanover was second with 489 points.

Nuna Bamatraf led the way with wins in three events including the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.27), 200 backstroke (2:16.86) and the 200 individual medley (2:20.07).

Double winners included Ali Tallen in the 100 back (1:01.88) and 100 butterfly (1:00.75), Emily Thompson in the 200 fly (2:14.29) and 500 free (5:22.96) and Sammie Waples in the 50 free (24.91) and the 100 free (55.88).

Other individual winners included Katherine Douglas in 1-meter diving (235.30 pts), Rachel Graves in the 1,000 free (11:30.90), Olivia Neff in the 200 free (2:02.30) and Molly Ruggles in the 100 individual medley (1:03.66).

Graves was also second in the 100 free (57.70) and the 200 IM (2:21.50), while Ruggles also was runner-up in a pair of events including the 100 back (1:02.03) and the 100 fly (1:01.46).

Also placing second were Katie Decker (1000 free; 11:47.77), Maddie Dixon (200 free; 2:03.34), Marisol Karmel (200 fly; 2:21.82), Neff (50 free; 25.65), Mei-Li Minnich (100 IM; 1:06.00), Kaitlyn Gardner (200 back; 2:25.83) and Alyssa Luarde (200 breast; 2:42.78).

The Tigers' 200 medley relay of Allison Lund, Bamatraf, Tallen and Minninch won in 1:54.66 as did the 400 free relay of Neff, Thompson, Ashley Dapore and Waples in 3:46.80.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, October 19, at the Indiana Intercollegiates at Purdue.
