Host Illinois Wesleyan Strikes Early in 6-1 Win over DePauw

Bloomington, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan scored twice in the first 8:05 on the way to a 6-1 win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 2-7, while the Titans improved to 7-1-1.

Morgan O'Neal and Jordan Ellerbrock each scored twice in the opening half and Rosie Pettenuzzo added another for a 5-0 first-half lead.

Katie Webb ended the shutout in the 61st minute on an assist from Ali Grimm. Kaitlyn Chen rounded out the scoring for Illinois Wesleyan with 9:35 remaining.

The Titans outshot DePauw, 21-4, including 12-4 on goal. Illinois Wesleyan also led in corners, 9-2.

Maya Caldwell recorded one save and Mia Manney had five in goal for the Tigers, while Kelli McCarthy posted three saves for Illinois Wesleyan.

DePauw returns to North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday, September 29, when it travels to Hiram for a 5 p.m. contest.

I chose DePauw because it is an academic focused institution. Everyone was very friendly when I visited, I loved that I can continue to play soccer, and the campus is beautiful.
