DePauw Tops Rhodes for Third Place at WashU

St. Louis, Mo. - DePauw scored a pair of second-half goals and picked up its second win in the last three contests with a 2-1 win over Rhodes in the third-place game of the WashU Challenge Tournament. The Tigers improved to 2-4, while the Lynx dropped to 2-3-1.

The teams battled through a scoreless first half before Sarah Bird gave DePauw a 1-0 lead on Mallory Dillon's assist at 53:38. Sydnie Schindler evened the count at 61:42 before Shaili Kumar delivered the game-winning score on a double assist from Natalie Kelley and Alex Wendt.

Rhodes outshot DePauw, 18-9, but just 7-5 in shots on goal. DePauw also held a 7-3 edge in corners.

Maya Caldwell recorded two saves for DePauw before Mia Manney entered and stopped four Rhodes shots. Meghan Kiker had two saves for Rhodes before Abby Roevens finished with one.

DePauw hosts Rose-Hulman on Wednesday, September 19, at 7 p.m.
