Tigers Drop Season Opener at Rhodes

Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw grabbed a 1-0 first-half lead, but host Rhodes knotted the score later in the half and tallied three more in the second for a 4-1 victory over the Tigers. The game was the season opener for both squads.

Alexa Steil put the Tigers on the board with just under 20 minutes left in the opening half on an assist from Kate Milner before the Lynx's Lizzie Wood evened the score with 7:18 remaining in the half on Jenn Kirby's assist. Kirby made it 2-1 just 3:08 into the second half with an assist from Hailey Mules before Meghan Harmon extended the lead with an unassisted goal with 22:06 left and Mules rounded out the scoring with 2:30 remaining on Woods' assist.

Rhodes outshot DePauw, 26-5, including 20-5 on goal. The Lynx also held a 17-4 edge in penalty corners.

Sarah Foye totaled 16 saves in goal for the Tigers, while Nina Migneco had four for Rhodes.

The Tigers open NCAC play on Wednesday, September 5, with a 6 p.m. home contest against Denison.
