Burguete's Steeple Title Highlights Friday NCAC Competition

Meadville, Pa. - With a steeplechase champion and 18 points in the 10,000 meters, DePauw totaled 41 points and is in third place after the first of two days of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. Ohio Wesleyan leads with 61 points, while Oberlin is second with 43.

Pole Burguete led the field in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:18.70, while Kyle Munz was seventh in 9:45.89.

Nate Baker earned all-conference honors in the hammer throw with a third-place showing (48.68 m/159-8). Tyler Nemeth was fourth in the pole vault (4.25m/13-11.25).

Tigers finished in three of the top five spots of the 10,000 meters led by Paul Christian in second (32:30.74), Cole Martin in third (32:33.42) and Nick Meszaros in fifth (32:45.36).

In prelim action, Tigers earned seven spots in Saturday's finals including three in the 400 meters where Luke Patty qualified second (49.98 seconds), Jordan Booker fifth (50.00) and Johnny Miller eighth (51.06).

Patty also earned a spot in the 200 finals after posting the third-fastest prelim time (22.23). Chase Wright finished with the top 100 meter prelim time (10.83) with Jacob Avenaim finishing eighth (11.07). Samuel Voelz qualified second in the 800 meters (1:57.57).
